Build with WAI
WAI is free and open: the standard, its reference software and everything on these pages run on your own machines, under Apache-2.0, with no account.
- Quickstart: install the
waicommand line, see WAI’s four steps on a sample, and run a live room on your machine in two tabs. - Examples: small projects, each a template of
wai create: a video room, watching together, messaging and a call, an encoder into a room, packaging a title, receipts in Rust and Python, native apps on Apple platforms and Android, remote desktop. - SDKs and libraries: the command line, the Rust crate, the room client for the browser, the native sinks, the C interface and the independent verifiers.
- The room service and the relay: every HTTP route of the room service, and how a client connects to the relay.
- Breaking changes:
wai breaking, what a change breaks for readers, verifiers and programs written against an earlier WAI, and how an intended break is acknowledged. - Conformance runs:
wai conform, WAI’s conformance corpora run against your implementation, with a signed result anyone can check.
The specification and its extensions are the normative text; these pages say how to build with them.
For coding assistants and agents. Every page here has a Markdown version at the same address
ending in .md (this one is /docs.md), and /llms.txt indexes them.
